The Best Copycat Sugar Cookies

These soft frosted cookies remind me of the ones I loved as a kid. After testing countless batches I finally nailed that signature pillowy texture and sweet creamy frosting. Now I make them even better than the store version right in my kitchen.

Simply Sweet and Fun

I love making these cookies because they're so versatile. The dough comes together easily and you can have fun with different frosting colors. My daughter especially loves helping decorate them for holidays.

What You Need

The secret to these cookies is using both cake and regular flour for that perfect soft texture. You'll need butter and shortening unsalted butter sugar eggs and our special blend of extracts. For the frosting grab powdered sugar butter milk and your favorite food coloring.

Making The Magic

Start by mixing your dry ingredients then cream the butter mixture until fluffy. The key is chilling the dough it makes such a difference in texture. While they bake I whip up the frosting. My trick is using both vanilla and almond extracts it gives them that bakery flavor we all love.

Perfect Pairings

These cookies are amazing with cold milk. When I host cookie decorating parties I set out hot cocoa too. They're always the first to disappear at bake sales and holiday gatherings.

My Best Tips

Don't skip chilling the dough it makes rolling so much easier. Watch them carefully in the oven you want them soft not browned. Let them cool completely before frosting trust me on this one.

Fresh and Tasty

Keep your cookies fresh in an airtight container they'll stay soft for days. I often make extra dough to freeze it's perfect for last minute treats just thaw and bake.

Mix It Up

Sometimes I make these with different colored frosting for holidays. Green for Christmas pink for Valentine's Day orange for Halloween. The possibilities are endless.

Cookie Cutter Magic

Rolling the dough and using cutters makes perfectly uniform cookies. I love using seasonal shapes it makes them extra special for holidays.

Make It Fun

Cookie decorating parties are my favorite way to spend an afternoon. I set out different colored frostings and sprinkles and let everyone get creative. Kids especially love this part.

Homemade is Best

Once you try these homemade you'll never go back to store bought. They're fresher softer and you know exactly what goes into them. Plus you can make them any time a craving hits.

Always a Winner

These cookies bring smiles wherever they go. The combination of soft cookie and sweet frosting just can't be beat. They're my go to recipe when I need something special that everyone will love.
