04 - 1 pound ground turkey
05 - 1 pound sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into ½-inch cubes

→ Sauce & Seasoning

06 - 2 (15-ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
07 - 1 cup chicken broth
08 - 2 tablespoons chili powder
09 - 2 teaspoons cumin
10 - 1 teaspoon paprika
11 - ⅛ teaspoon cinnamon
12 - ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
13 - 2 teaspoons salt
14 - ¾ teaspoon black pepper

→ Add-Ins & Toppings

15 - 1 (15.25-ounce) can corn, drained
16 - 1 (15.5-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
17 - Sour cream (optional, for serving)
18 - Fresh cilantro, finely chopped (optional, for serving)

# Instructions:

01 - Heat avocado oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Add diced onions and cook for 2-3 minutes until tender. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
02 - Push onions and garlic to the side and add ground turkey to the pot. Cook for 7-8 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon, until no longer pink. Add sweet potato cubes, stir everything together, and cook for 2 more minutes.
03 - Pour in crushed tomatoes and chicken broth. Add all seasonings: chili powder, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, cayenne (if using), salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine. Increase heat to high until the mixture begins to boil.
04 - Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low, cover the pot, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
05 - Stir in drained corn and black beans. Cover and continue simmering for 10-15 more minutes, until sweet potatoes are fork-tender. For a thicker consistency, mash some of the sweet potatoes against the side of the pot with a spoon.
06 - Ladle hot chili into bowls and top with a dollop of sour cream and sprinkle of fresh chopped cilantro if desired.

02 - For a spicier version, add a diced jalapeño with the onions or increase the cayenne pepper.
03 - Tastes great served over a small portion of rice or with cornbread on the side.
