Cheeseburger Biscuit Bake Casserole (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Components

01 - 680g ground beef (80/20 lean)
02 - 1 medium onion, finely diced
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 15ml Worcestershire sauce
05 - 15ml ketchup or tomato paste
06 - 5ml mustard (yellow or Dijon)
07 - Salt and black pepper, to taste
08 - 1 can (450g) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 large biscuits)
09 - 250g shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of cheddar and mozzarella)

→ Optional Additions

10 - 75g diced pickles
11 - 60g cooked bacon crumbles

→ Garnish

12 - Additional shredded cheese
13 - Sesame seeds
14 - Fresh shredded lettuce, tomato slices, or additional pickles (for serving)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
02 - Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet; sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until softened. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, then remove from heat.
03 - Quarter each biscuit from the can.
04 - In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef mixture, quartered biscuit pieces, shredded cheese, and any optional diced pickles or bacon crumbles. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
05 - Transfer the mixture into a greased 23x33cm (9x13-inch) baking dish, spreading it evenly. Generously sprinkle additional shredded cheese and sesame seeds over the top.
06 - Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and thoroughly cooked. If the top begins to brown excessively, cover loosely with aluminium foil.
07 - Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, or additional pickles for an authentic cheeseburger experience. Serve warm, accompanied by ketchup, mustard, or your preferred burger sauce.

# Notes:

01 - Ensure biscuit pieces in the center are fully baked before removing from the oven.
02 - For cheese variations, try pepper jack for a spicier kick, or Swiss for a richer flavor profile.
03 - Consider healthier swaps by using lean ground turkey or chicken and reduced-fat cheese.
04 - Enhance nutritional value by mixing in sautéed mushrooms, peppers, or spinach.
05 - Achieve a crispy finish by broiling for 1 to 2 minutes at the end to perfectly brown the top.
06 - For a Bacon Cheeseburger Bake, incorporate crumbled bacon into the beef mixture and top with more before baking.
07 - Create a BBQ Cheeseburger Bake by replacing ketchup with your favorite barbecue sauce for smoky sweetness.
08 - Transform into a Tex-Mex Cheeseburger Bake by using taco seasoning in the beef, adding jalapeños, and topping with salsa and sour cream after baking.
09 - Replicate a Big Mac Style Bake by adding shredded lettuce, diced pickles, and Thousand Island dressing after baking.
10 - For a Breakfast Cheeseburger Bake, add scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage along with the cheese and bake as usual.
11 - Store leftover portions in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
12 - For longer storage, wrap individual portions tightly in foil or plastic wrap and freeze for up to 2 months.
13 - Reheat in the oven at 175°C (350°F) for 10 to 15 minutes, or in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes.
14 - Excellent serving suggestions include pairing with crispy French fries, a fresh garden salad, onion rings, or coleslaw.
