Bourbon-Maple Brisket Wafflewich (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Brisket

01 - 1 cup cooked shredded brisket
02 - 2 tbsp bourbon
03 - 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
04 - 1 tbsp BBQ sauce

→ Wafflewich

05 - 4 waffles
06 - 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
07 - Butter, for grilling
08 - Optional: sliced pickles or caramelized onions

# Instructions:

01 - In a small pan, warm the shredded brisket with bourbon, maple syrup, and BBQ sauce over medium heat. Stir and cook for 3-5 minutes until warmed through and coated in sauce. Set aside.
02 - Lay 2 waffles on a cutting board. Top each with cheese, then a generous layer of the bourbon-maple brisket. Add pickles or caramelized onions if using. Top with another slice of cheese and cover with remaining waffles.
03 - Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a little butter. Place the wafflewiches in the pan and press down gently with a spatula. Cook 3-4 minutes per side or until the waffles are golden and crispy and the cheese has melted.
04 - Cut in half and enjoy the melty, savory, sweet explosion!

# Notes:

01 - Use thick-cut waffles for sturdy sandwiches.
02 - Leftover brisket or any shredded smoked meat works great.
03 - Try swapping cheddar for pepper jack for a little heat.
