Beef and Cheese Chimichangas (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Beef Filling

01 - 1 lb ground beef
02 - 1 small onion, chopped
03 - 1 tsp garlic powder
04 - 1 tsp chili powder
05 - 1/2 tsp cumin
06 - Salt and pepper to taste
07 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
08 - 1/2 cup salsa

→ Tortillas and Assembly

09 - 6 large flour tortillas
10 - Vegetable oil for frying

11 - Sour cream
12 - Shredded lettuce
13 - Extra salsa

# Instructions:

01 - In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
02 - Add garlic powder, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir well to season the meat.
03 - Reduce heat to low and stir in the salsa and shredded cheddar cheese until everything is well combined and the cheese is melted. Remove from heat.
04 - Warm the tortillas slightly to make them easier to fold.
05 - Spoon a generous amount of the beef mixture into the center of each tortilla. Fold in the sides and roll up tightly like a burrito.
06 - Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
07 - Carefully place chimichangas seam-side down in the hot oil. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
08 - Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with sour cream, shredded lettuce, and extra salsa if desired.
