Steakhouse Dry Spice Blend (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Steak Rub

01 - 2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt
02 - 2 teaspoons brown sugar
03 - 1/4 teaspoon cornstarch
04 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
05 - 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
06 - 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
07 - 1/2 teaspoon paprika
08 - 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
09 - 1 teaspoon black pepper

# Instructions:

01 - Combine all ingredients in a quart-sized Ziploc bag and seal it tightly. Shake it to thoroughly combine all ingredients.
02 - Generously cover each side of the steak with the seasoning and let it rest for about 40 minutes. This allows the salt to penetrate through the surface and break down the muscle fibers, which results in a more tender meat.
03 - Once the grill is nice and hot, place the steak(s) on and cook for 4-5 minutes, until browned and slightly charred. Flip and cook additional time: 5 minutes for Medium Rare, 7 minutes for Medium, or 10 minutes for Well Done.

# Notes:

01 - Adjust salt to taste - you can always add more if needed.
02 - This recipe makes 2.4 tablespoons of rub, enough for 2 steaks.
03 - Best steak cuts for grilling: Filet Mignon, Porterhouse, N.Y. Strip, and Ribeye.
