One-Pan Texas Hash (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 tablespoons olive oil.
02 - 1 cup diced onion.
03 - 1 cup diced green bell pepper.
04 - 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic.
05 - 1 pound ground beef, 80/20.
06 - 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard.
07 - 2 teaspoons chili powder.
08 - 2 teaspoons kosher salt.
09 - 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper.
10 - 1/2 cup uncooked long grain white rice.
11 - 2 tablespoons tomato paste.
12 - 1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes with juice.
13 - 1 cup water.
14 - 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce.
15 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, optional.

# Instructions:

01 - Heat olive oil over medium high in skillet with tight fitting cover.
02 - Add onion, peppers, garlic, beef and seasonings. Cook until beef no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
03 - Stir in rice and cook 2 minutes to absorb liquid.
04 - Add tomato paste, cook 1 minute. Add tomatoes, water, Worcestershire sauce.
05 - Cover and simmer 20 minutes. Fluff and cook longer if too wet.
06 - Optional: Top with cheese in last few minutes of cooking.

# Notes:

01 - Can adjust spiciness with chili powder amount.
02 - Drain excess beef fat before adding rice.
03 - Optional cheese topping adds extra flavor.
