Combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.

Place 1 pound of strawberries and 0.5 cups of water in a blender. Blend until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds and pulp.

In a large pitcher, mix lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, strained strawberry puree, and 4 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine.

Taste the lemonade and adjust if needed. If the flavor is too strong, add up to 2 additional cups of water.

Fill the pitcher with ice cubes. Add thinly sliced lemons and quartered strawberries for garnish.

Serve immediately over ice. Garnish with additional lemon slices and a fresh strawberry, if desired.
