# Ingredients:

→ Main Filling

01 - 680 grams ground beef (85% lean)
02 - 1 medium onion, chopped
03 - 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
04 - 0.5 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
05 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
06 - 1 teaspoon paprika
07 - 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon pre-minced garlic)
08 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
09 - 425 millilitres tomato sauce
10 - 120 millilitres ketchup
11 - 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
12 - 60 millilitres barbecue sauce

→ Topping

13 - 200 grams shredded Colby Jack cheese
14 - 900 grams frozen tater tots or crispy crowns
15 - 1 tablespoon dried parsley, for garnish

# Instructions:

01 - Set oven to 200°C (400°F) to preheat.
02 - In a large oven-safe skillet, cook ground beef and chopped onion over medium-high heat for approximately 8 minutes, breaking the beef into crumbles until no pink remains.
03 - Add salt, black pepper, onion powder, and paprika to the skillet. Stir thoroughly and cook for 2 minutes to bloom the spices.
04 - Stir in minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, ketchup, yellow mustard, and barbecue sauce. Mix well and reduce heat to low. Simmer gently for 3 minutes, adding a splash of water if necessary to prevent sticking.
05 - Remove skillet from the heat source and evenly distribute shredded Colby Jack cheese over the beef mixture.
06 - Place frozen tater tots or crispy crowns in neat rows on top of the cheese, slightly overlapping each piece.
07 - Transfer skillet to the oven and bake for 25 minutes on the middle rack, or until tater tots are golden and crisp, and the sauce is bubbling.
08 - Remove the skillet from the oven and allow to rest for several minutes. Sprinkle with dried parsley before serving hot.

# Notes:

01 - For maximum crispiness, do not thaw tater tots before assembly.
02 - Well-browned beef yields enhanced flavor and texture.
03 - Freshly grated cheese creates a superior melt compared to pre-shredded varieties.
04 - Ground turkey or plant-based substitutes can be used in place of beef for a lighter or vegetarian alternative.
05 - Cheddar or pepper jack cheese offers a suitable replacement for Colby Jack.
06 - Modify barbecue sauce quantity or add hot sauce to adjust flavor intensity.
07 - Plant-based ground and vegetarian Worcestershire sauce make the dish fully vegetarian; ensure cheese is vegetarian-friendly.
08 - If lacking an oven-safe skillet, transfer the beef mixture to a greased baking dish before topping and baking.
