Sesame Braised Cabbage (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cabbage

01 - 1 full head of cabbage, quartered
02 - 1 tbsp avocado oil
03 - 2 tbsp butter
04 - 1/4 tsp salt
05 - 1 tsp pepper
06 - 2 tbsp of water for steaming

→ Sesame Sauce

07 - 2 tbsp oyster sauce
08 - 2 tbsp sesame oil
09 - 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
10 - 1 tbsp honey
11 - 2 cloves of garlic, minced
12 - 1 stalk of green onion
13 - 1 tbsp sambal or chili oil (optional)
14 - 2 tbsp of water

# Instructions:

01 - Add avocado oil to a cast iron pan with a lid on medium-high heat.
02 - Add cabbage and fry until edges are crispy. Add butter, salt and pepper during this time.
03 - Once all sides are crispy, add water to create steam. Cover with lid and braise for 5 minutes on lower heat.
04 - In a bowl, combine all sesame sauce ingredients.
05 - Check if cabbage middle is tender with a knife. If not, cook 5 more minutes. When water evaporates and cabbage is ready, pour sauce over and saute until incorporated.

# Notes:

01 - Can be made in air fryer at 350°F for 20 minutes
02 - Leave core intact to keep cabbage from falling apart
03 - Omit sambal/chili oil for milder flavor
