Onion Beef Fried Rice Better Than Takeout (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 3 cups cooked rice, preferably day-old
02 - 1 lb ground beef
03 - 1 medium onion, chopped
04 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
05 - 1 cup mixed vegetables, such as carrots, peas, and corn
06 - 2 tbsp soy sauce
07 - 1 tbsp oyster sauce
08 - 1 tsp sesame oil
09 - Salt, to taste
10 - Pepper, to taste
11 - Vegetable oil, for cooking

→ Optional Garnishes

12 - Chopped green onions
13 - Sesame seeds
14 - Cilantro

# Instructions:

01 - Use cold, day-old rice for the best texture. This helps the grains stay separate and absorb the seasonings better during cooking.
02 - Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
03 - Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onions are translucent and the mixture is aromatic.
04 - Stir in the mixed vegetables and cook for 3–4 minutes, until tender but still vibrant in color.
05 - Add the cold rice to the skillet. Use a spatula to break up the clumps and mix thoroughly with the meat and vegetables.
06 - Incorporate the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Stir until the mixture is evenly coated and heated through.
07 - Serve the fried rice warm. Optionally, garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, or fresh cilantro for additional flavor.

# Notes:

01 - For a leaner version, substitute the ground beef with ground turkey. Use low-sodium soy sauce for a healthier alternative.
02 - Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, use a skillet or microwave and add a splash of water to maintain moisture.
