Loose Meat Tavern Sandwich (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main

01 - 1 tablespoon butter or vegetable oil
02 - 1 medium onion, finely diced
03 - 500 g ground beef (80/20 preferred)
04 - 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
05 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
06 - 60 ml beef broth or water
07 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
08 - 4 hamburger buns, toasted

→ Optional Toppings

09 - Pickle slices
10 - Sliced cheese
11 - Yellow mustard
12 - Tomato ketchup
13 - Diced onions

# Instructions:

01 - In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter or heat the vegetable oil. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until well browned.
02 - Stir in the yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Season generously with salt and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid has evaporated but the filling remains moist.
03 - Spoon the loose beef mixture onto toasted buns. Top with your choice of pickles, cheese, mustard, ketchup, or diced onions. Serve immediately while hot.

# Notes:

01 - Toasting the buns ensures the sandwich stays crisp and prevents sogginess.
02 - Cheddar or American cheese melt well over the beef, though cheese is not traditional.
03 - Diced pickles or relish offer a tangy contrast to the savory beef mixture.
