Chinese Sweet Sauce (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 cup canned pineapple juice.
02 - 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar OR brown sugar alternative.
03 - 1/3 cup rice vinegar.
04 - 3 tablespoons ketchup.
05 - 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari.
06 - For the Cornstarch Slurry:.
07 - 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch.
08 - 2 tablespoons water.
09 - Optional: 2-3 drops natural red food coloring.

# Instructions:

01 - Place all ingredients except cornstarch slurry in saucepan and bring to boil.
02 - Stir in cornstarch slurry and simmer 1 minute until thickened. Add food coloring if using.
03 - Cool completely and store in airtight container in refrigerator.

# Notes:

01 - Use canned not fresh pineapple juice.
02 - Keeps 2-3 weeks refrigerated.
03 - Can use sugar alternatives.
