Ham and Cheese Butter Biscuits (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dry Ingredients

01 - 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
03 - 1 Tablespoon aluminum free baking powder

→ Wet Ingredients

04 - 1 ¾ cups buttermilk (can increase to 2 cups if batter seems dry)

→ Mix-ins

05 - 2 cups small diced ham
06 - 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

→ Topping

07 - ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 450°F. Spray a 9×9-inch oven-safe glass or ceramic baking dish with nonstick cooking spray (preferably one with flour).
02 - In a medium-sized bowl, combine 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar, and 1 Tablespoon aluminum free baking powder.
03 - Pour 1 ¾ cups buttermilk into the dry ingredients. Stir until a sticky batter forms. If the batter appears dry, add more buttermilk incrementally until thick and sticky.
04 - Gently fold in 2 cups small diced ham and 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese until evenly combined.
05 - Melt ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Pour the melted butter into the prepared baking dish.
06 - Spread the dough over the melted butter in the baking dish. Use hands sprayed with nonstick spray for easier handling. Evenly distribute the dough.
07 - Cut the dough into 9 squares to make serving easier after baking.
08 - Bake on the middle rack for 25-30 minutes. Rotate the dish midway through baking for even browning. If the biscuits brown too quickly, cover with foil for the remaining time.
09 - The biscuits are done when golden brown on top and spring back to the touch. Insert a toothpick in the center; if it comes out clean, they are ready.
10 - Slice the biscuits along the scored lines and serve warm.

# Notes:

01 - Rotate the dish midway through baking to ensure even browning. Cover biscuits with foil if browning too quickly.
