French Onion Ground Beef and Rice Casserole (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 pound ground beef.
02 - 1 cup long-grain white rice.
03 - 2 cups beef broth.
04 - 1 large onion, thinly sliced.
05 - 1 tablespoon olive oil.
06 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
07 - 1 teaspoon onion powder.
08 - 1 teaspoon dried thyme.
09 - Salt and pepper to taste.
10 - 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese.
11 - ½ cup French fried onions.
12 - Fresh parsley for garnish.

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
02 - Sauté sliced onions in olive oil for 10-12 minutes until golden.
03 - Add ground beef to onions, cook 5-7 minutes until browned. Drain fat.
04 - Add garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt and pepper to beef mixture.
05 - Mix beef mixture with uncooked rice and beef broth.
06 - Cover and bake 30 minutes, add cheese and bake uncovered 10-15 minutes more.
07 - Top with fried onions and parsley, let rest 5 minutes before serving.
