Deep Dish Pizza Pie Meats (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Crust and Assembly

01 - 2 ready-bake pie crusts
02 - 2 tablespoons melted butter

→ Cheese

03 - 200 grams shredded mozzarella cheese
04 - 100 grams shredded cheddar cheese

→ Meats

05 - 250 grams ground beef
06 - 200 grams Italian sausage, casings removed
07 - 80 grams pepperoni slices

→ Sauce and Seasonings

08 - 200 millilitres pizza sauce
09 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
10 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
11 - Pinch red pepper flakes (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 220°C.
02 - Brown ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking up any clumps. Drain excess fat thoroughly.
03 - Press one ready-bake pie crust into a deep-dish pie pan, ensuring the crust is flush against the bottom and sides.
04 - Evenly distribute half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the base crust.
05 - Spoon the cooked and drained beef and sausage mixture over the cheese.
06 - Scatter half the pepperoni slices on top of the meats.
07 - Pour pizza sauce evenly over the layered meats. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, half the garlic powder, and a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired.
08 - Top sauce with the remaining mozzarella and all the cheddar cheese. Finish with the remaining pepperoni slices.
09 - Lay the second pie crust over the filling. Pinch the edges firmly to seal. Brush the surface with melted butter and dust with the remaining garlic powder.
10 - Bake in the centre of the oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
11 - Allow the pizza pie to cool for several minutes to help layers set, then slice and serve warm.

# Notes:

01 - Ensure meat is well-drained before assembling to keep the crust crisp and prevent sogginess.
02 - Brushing melted butter beneath the bottom crust before assembly enhances crunch.
03 - Allow the baked pizza pie to rest before slicing for neater portions.
04 - For a crispier base, use a preheated pizza stone under your pie pan.
05 - Vegetable additions such as sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers may be included as desired.
06 - Ground turkey or chicken can replace beef for a lighter alternative; turkey or chicken sausage works as a substitute for Italian sausage.
