Creamy Sausage Tortellini Skillet (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Components

01 - 450g Italian sausage (mild or hot), casings removed
02 - 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 425g Alfredo sauce
05 - 680g Marinara sauce
06 - 567g frozen cheese tortellini

→ Seasonings and Garnish

07 - 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
08 - 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
09 - 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
10 - 2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes

# Instructions:

01 - Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and chopped onion. Cook, breaking up the sausage with a spoon, until browned and no longer pink, approximately 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
02 - Reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the Alfredo sauce and marinara sauce. Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes. Stir thoroughly, ensuring to scrape up any browned bits from the pan bottom.
03 - Add the frozen cheese tortellini to the skillet and mix until fully coated with sauce. Cover the pan and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the tortellini are heated through and tender, stirring occasionally.
04 - Turn off the heat and evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top. Cover the skillet until the cheese is completely melted and stretchy, or transfer to a preheated oven at 200°C for 2-3 minutes for a bubbly, golden finish.
05 - Garnish with parsley flakes. Serve hot, directly from the skillet, ideally with crusty bread.

# Notes:

01 - For a lighter alternative, use chicken or turkey sausage. Replace Alfredo sauce by using all marinara and adding a splash of heavy cream.
02 - Enhance nutritional value by incorporating spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers during the final minutes of cooking.
03 - Adjust spice level by increasing red pepper flakes or opting for hot Italian sausage.
04 - Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove, adding a splash of milk.
05 - When using fresh or refrigerated tortellini, reduce the cooking time accordingly.
