Cozy Ham and Bacon Chowder (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base Ingredients

01 - 10 bacon strips, diced
02 - 1 large onion, chopped
03 - 1 cup diced carrots
04 - 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
05 - 3 cups whole milk
06 - 1-1/2 cups water

→ Main Ingredients

07 - 2-1/2 cups cubed potatoes
08 - 1 can (15-1/4 ounces) whole kernel corn, drained
09 - 2 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules
10 - 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
11 - 2 cups cubed fully cooked ham
12 - Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
13 - Black pepper to taste

# Instructions:

01 - In a Dutch oven, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside on paper towels.
02 - Using the bacon drippings, cook onion and carrots until they're nice and tender.
03 - Stir flour into the vegetables until well mixed. Slowly pour in milk and water while stirring. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes, stirring until thickened.
04 - Add potatoes, corn, bouillon and pepper. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
05 - Stir in cheese and ham. Heat until cheese melts completely. Mix in the reserved bacon and garnish with parsley if desired.
