Cheesy Sloppy Joe Toast (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Filling

01 - 450g ground beef
02 - 1 small onion, finely chopped
03 - 227g tomato sauce
04 - 60ml ketchup
05 - 15ml yellow mustard
06 - 15ml Worcestershire sauce
07 - 1 tsp garlic powder
08 - 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
09 - Salt, to taste
10 - Black pepper, to taste

→ Toast

11 - 4 thick slices bread
12 - 30g butter, for toasting

→ Topping

13 - 170g shredded cheddar cheese or cheese blend
14 - Chopped parsley or green onions, for garnish (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking apart with a spatula, until thoroughly browned. Carefully drain excess fat from the pan.
02 - Add finely chopped onion to the beef in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onion is soft and translucent.
03 - Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Combine well and let the mixture simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
04 - Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. Toast in a skillet over medium heat or under a broiler for 2–3 minutes per side until bread is golden brown and crisp. Adjust time as needed to prevent burning.
05 - Distribute generous spoonfuls of the hot Sloppy Joe mixture onto toasted bread slices.
06 - Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese blend) evenly over the top of the meat. Melt cheese either by covering the skillet and cooking on low for 2–3 minutes, or placing under the broiler for 1–2 minutes until cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
07 - Garnish each toast with chopped parsley or green onions. Slice to serve immediately while hot for best flavor and texture.

# Notes:

01 - For best results, use sturdy, thick-cut bread such as Texas toast, French bread, or baguette slices.
02 - The Sloppy Joe filling can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before assembling.
03 - Experiment with different cheeses such as mozzarella, pepper jack, or provolone for varied flavor and melt.
04 - Optional toppings like pickles, jalapeños, or a dollop of sour cream can enhance flavor and texture.
