Preheat oven to 175°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminium foil.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and no longer pink, about 6–8 minutes. Drain off excess fat.

Stir in Italian seasoning and pizza sauce. Add optional garlic powder, pepperoni, or vegetables, if using. Simmer mixture for 2–3 minutes to meld flavours.

Place split hamburger buns, cut side up, on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon equal portions of meat mixture onto each bun half.

Evenly sprinkle shredded cheddar and, if using, mozzarella over the meat mixture. Add more toppings such as pepperoni or peppers if desired.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown. Optionally top with the remaining bun halves or serve open-faced. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
