Beef Bacon Cheeseburger Tater Cones (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Filling Components

01 - 1 medium onion, diced
02 - 450 grams ground beef (80/20 fat content)
03 - Salt, to taste
04 - Black pepper, to taste
05 - 60 ml ketchup
06 - 6 slices beef bacon, cooked and crumbled
07 - 30 ml yellow mustard
08 - 30 ml mayonnaise

→ Assembly & Topping

09 - 1 (907 gram) bag frozen tater tots
10 - 120 grams shredded mozzarella cheese
11 - 120 grams shredded cheddar cheese

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
02 - In a large pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any accumulated fat. Incorporate the cooked beef bacon, diced onion, ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard into the browned beef. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, stirring thoroughly to combine all ingredients. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
03 - While the burger filling simmers, carefully hollow out the center of each frozen tater tot using a sharp paring knife or a skewer, creating a small cone-shaped cavity.
04 - Delicately spoon the prepared burger mixture into each hollowed tater tot cone. Garnish each filled cone with shredded cheddar cheese.
05 - Arrange the assembled cones on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring adequate spacing between them. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy, and the cheddar cheese is melted and bubbling.
06 - In a small bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese with any remaining burger filling.
07 - Remove the cones from the oven and immediately crown each with the mozzarella cheese mixture, crafting a 'volcano' appearance. Return the cones to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, allowing the mozzarella to melt and lightly brown. Serve promptly for optimal warmth and gooey texture.

# Notes:

01 - For crispier tater tots, ensure they are frozen solid before hollowing.
02 - Shredding your own cheese is recommended for superior melting and flavor.
03 - Thoroughly browning the ground beef is essential for a rich flavor base.
04 - Consider ground turkey or chicken as a lighter alternative, or use turkey bacon for a healthier twist.
05 - For an added kick, incorporate chopped pickled jalapeños into the filling.
06 - The filling and assembled cones can be prepared in advance and refrigerated until baking.
07 - To reheat, place leftover cones in an oven preheated to 190°C (375°F) for 10-15 minutes, or until thoroughly heated and crisp. Adding fresh mozzarella before reheating enhances the cheese pull.
