Ultimate Bacon Pickle Grilled Cheese (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Sandwich Components

01 - 2 slices sourdough bread or white bread
02 - 3 strips thick-cut bacon
03 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
04 - 2 to 3 dill pickle slices
05 - 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese
06 - 2 slices Swiss cheese

# Instructions:

01 - In a skillet over medium heat, fry the bacon strips until crisp. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.
02 - Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
03 - Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet over medium-low heat. Layer with cheddar cheese, the cooked bacon, dill pickle slices, and the Swiss cheese.
04 - Top with the remaining bread slice, buttered side up. Gently press down with a spatula. Grill for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
05 - Remove from the skillet. Allow to rest for one minute, then slice in half and serve immediately.

# Notes:

01 - Shred cheese from a block for optimal melting, as pre-sliced cheese may contain anti-caking agents.
02 - Maintain medium-low heat to achieve a crispy, golden crust without burning the bread.
03 - Allow bacon to drain thoroughly to avoid excess moisture in the finished sandwich.
04 - Try substituting different breads, such as rye or brioche, for unique flavor profiles.
05 - Experiment with cheese varieties like Gouda or Havarti, or add spice with jalapeños or hot sauce.
