Cheesy Onion Mozzarella Rings (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main

01 - 2 large onions, peeled and sliced into thick rings
02 - 200 g mozzarella cheese block, cut into strips

→ Coating

03 - 120 g all-purpose flour (1 cup)
04 - 2 large eggs, beaten
05 - 90 g panko breadcrumbs (1 ½ cups)
06 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
07 - 1 teaspoon paprika
08 - Salt, to taste
09 - Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

→ Frying

10 - Vegetable oil, for deep-frying

# Instructions:

01 - Slice onions into thick rings, then separate and pair similar-sized rings to form double rings with space between.
02 - Insert a mozzarella strip between each set of paired onion rings, pressing gently to ensure cheese is enclosed within the rings.
03 - Arrange three separate bowls: bowl one with flour mixed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika; bowl two with beaten eggs; bowl three with panko breadcrumbs.
04 - Carefully dip each stuffed ring into seasoned flour, then coat in beaten egg, followed by breadcrumbs. For an extra crunchy texture, dip again in egg and breadcrumbs to double-coat.
05 - Transfer breaded rings to a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 30 minutes to help prevent cheese from leaking during frying.
06 - Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan to 180°C. Working in batches, fry the rings for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crisp. Do not overcrowd the pan.
07 - Remove fried rings with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towel-lined plate. Serve immediately with preferred dipping sauces.

# Notes:

01 - Chilling the stuffed rings before frying is essential to maintain their shape and prevent cheese from melting out.
02 - For extra crunch, opt for panko-style breadcrumbs over traditional varieties.
03 - Add a pinch of chili flakes to the breadcrumb mixture for a spicy variation.
